Albrecht was born in Jena, and attended the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig. Soon after leaving drama school he landed his first film and television roles including: “Polizeiruf 110”; “Der Alte”; and “Tatort”. In 2010, Albrecht played the role of ‘Harry Klein’ in Sven Regener’s film adaptation of the novel ‘Neue Vahr Süd’, for which he received the national German Best TV Comedy Award. One year later he appeared in a leading role as ‘Alexander von Humboldt’ in the film adaptation of the bestselling novel "Measuring the World”. This was followed by films including: "Westwind" by Robert Thalheim; “A Dangerous Fortune”, "Atlas"; and "Die Täter...". In 2016, he was seen in Christian Schwochow’s “Paula” in which he played landscape artist Otto Modersohn. Albrecht plays the role of ‘Adam’ in the hugely successful “Bad Banks”, which earned him a Best Supporting Actor award at the German Academy of Television. He also starred in the hostage drama series “Gladbeck”. Most recently, he can be seen in the remake of “Alexanderplatz”, and in Germany’s critically-acclaimed Oscar submission “System Crasher”, directed by Nora Fingscheidt.
