Daria Polunina

Daria comes from the region of Dniprodzerzhinsk in eastern Ukraine. Growing up in this small industrial city, Daria soon made the discovery that it had a studio theatre space specifically for children - so when she was 14 years of age, she enrolled in classes and began to study there. From this early exposure to performing, Daria knew that acting was the only profession for her. Once she had completed secondary school, she applied for, and was accepted into, the Kiev National University of Theatre. After graduating, she was cast in a short film that was filming in Poland, and her experience working on it prompted her to move there. In Warsaw, she started to build her career in earnest, whilst also acting in Ukrainian projects. Her previous work includes the role of 'Alex' in “Foster & Max”; in “Desaturated” by Marina Stepanska; and in the short film “Blood Sausage” by Arkadiy Nepytaliuk - which won several festival awards. Daria can next be seen playing the lead and title role in a new biopic on Lesya Ukrainka – the iconic national poet of Ukraine. This is directed by the award-winning Georgian filmmaker, Nana Janelidze.
