Jette Søndergaard

Jette is a Danish actress renowned for her deeply heartfelt character portrayals. She is best known for her leading roles in the acclaimed trilogy, directed by Frelle Petersen. Her emotionally rich performances have earned her nominations for both the Bodil Award (Danish Film Critics Association) and the Robert Award (Danish Film Academy). Her breakthrough came with her leading role in UNCLE, which won the Grand Prix for Best Film at the Tokyo International Film Festival. Her portrayal of ‘Kris’, a young woman navigating rural Denmark, was widely praised for its subtlety and depth. FOREVER, a drama about grief and resilience, was selected for the main competition at the San Sebastián Film Festival and received strong acclaim. In HOME SWEET HOME, Jette stars as ‘Sofie’, a home care worker balancing her job and personal life. Premiering at the Berlin International Film Festival, the film won an Audience Award and further cemented Jette’s reputation as one of Denmark’s most compelling contemporary actresses. Critics described her performance as “heartrending” and “masterful,” highlighting her ability to bring depth and humanity to complex roles. Beyond her film work, Jette has acted in television series including AGENT and CARMEN CURLERS.
