Joana Ribeiro

A Shooting Star for Portugal - Joana Ribeiro - is perhaps best known to

international audiences for her role as ‘Angelica’ in Terry Gilliam's THE MAN

WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE, which was the closing film at Cannes Film

Festival. She was previously nominated for a Portuguese Golden Globe for

her role as ‘Mariana’ in the television series DANCIN’ DAYS, and in 2015,

she played the leading role of ‘Ilda’ in AT AN UNCERTAIN TIME. Other work

includes: as ‘Luísa Ribeiro’ in Rita Nunes' CROOKED LINES; the comedy

PORTUGAL IS NOT FOR SALE; the feature drama THE BLACK BOOK,

directed by Valeria Sarmiento; and the role of ‘Mary’ in FATIMA by Marco

Pontecorvo, alongside Harvey Keitel, and Sônia Braga. Joana played the

leading female role in the pilot of THE DARK TOWER for Amazon Studios -

an adaptation of the hugely popular Stephen King book series. Recent work

includes: Antoine Fuqua’s feature film INFINITE for Paramount; a key role in

the next series of the critically-acclaimed drama DAS BOOT; and a role in

the first Portuguese Netflix series GLÓRIA, which is directed by Tiago

Guedes; and the one shot thriller NIGHTRIDE. Joana played the role of ‘Lisa

Dominguez’ opposite Naomie Harris & Chiwetel Ejiofor in the series THE

MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH, which was written by Alex Kurtzman & Jenny

Lumet. Joana can currently be seen in the mini-series THE VEIL, which is

written by Steven Knight.
