Jara Sofija Ostan
Jara is a Slovenian actor from Ljubljana. From an early age, she developed a love for creativity and performance, beginning with contemporary dance and cello lessons at the Conservatory for Music and Ballet in Ljubljana. Soon after, she enrolled in various theatre workshops, where her passion for acting truly took root. In 2022, after completing elementary school, Jara chose to continue her music education and passed the entry exam for the Conservatory for Music and Ballet high school. That November, she was cast in Theatre Saint Jacob’s Ljubljana production of Shakespeare’s MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, playing the role of ‘Margaret’. The production toured across Slovenia for a year, after which Jara was invited to join the theatre’s resident acting ensemble. Balancing her studies with auditions for new projects, Jara soon landed the lead role of ‘Lucija’ in director Urška Djukić’s debut feature film LITTLE TROUBLE GIRLS. She was cast shortly after her sixteenth birthday, and six months later, principal photography began. The film premiered at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in the Perspectives competition, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize and was nominated for both the GWFF Best First Feature Award and the Teddy Award for Best Feature Film. Critics widely praised Jara’s captivating debut performance in this coming-of-age drama.
