Lyna was born in Algiers, where her father worked as a TV journalist, and her mother was a violinist. Due to political events in Algeria, the family moved to France, where Lyna was accepted into the prestigious Strasbourg Conservatory. At the same time she caught the eye of director Sofia Djama, who was casting her film "The Blessed". Lyna decided to accept the role of 'Feriel' in it, for which she won Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival, and was nominated for a César Award. This led to more work including in "The Party's Over" by Marie Garel-Weiss, and "Luna" by Elsa Diringer. Recently, she played opposite Vincent Cassel in Olivier Nakache & Éric Toledano’s "The Specials", which was the closing film at Cannes this year; as well as the lead role of 'Nedjma' in the acclaimed drama "Papicha" by Mounia Meddour - which also presented at Cannes, in Un Certain Regard. Lyna can next be seen in Abdel Raouf Dafri's "The Breitner Commando"; in Rebecca Zlotowski's television series "Savages"; and Wes Anderson’s new feature film "The French Dispatch”.
