Maria Rossing
Maria graduated from the National Theater School of Denmark in 2002. Since 2003, she has been employed at the Danish Royal Theater, where she has starred notably as ‘Lady Macbeth’ in MACBETH. For the past six years, she has been a leading lady at the Betty Nansen Theatre, recently playing the ‘queen’ in EDWARD II and the lead in THE EMPEROR OF PORTUGALIA. Maria has appeared in numerous feature films. She played ‘Rebecca’ in TEMPORARY RELEASE and DAISY DIAMOND, both directed by Ole Christian Madsen. She also starred in THE SHADOWS IN MY EYES, directed by Ole Bornedal, and received acclaim for her role in the award-winning MY ETERNAL SUMMER, which is directed by Sylvia Le Fanu. On television, she has starred in THE PROTECTORS on DR1 and had the lead in SPLITTING UP TOGETHER on TV2, which was remade for the American audience by Ellen DeGeneres. Rossing also appeared in FOLLOW THE MONEY on DR1. She appears in the Netflix miniseries EQUINOX and the Swedish series SNOW ANGELS. For four seasons, she has been the lead as ‘Brithe’ in CARMEN CURLERS for DR1 Danish National Television, recently shown on BBC. Maria has received three Reumert Awards—Denmark’s biggest theatre award—for her performances in THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE, THE SORROWS OF YOUNG WERTHER, and MADAME BOWERY, as well as the Lauritzen Award for Best Female Lead Role.
